I LIKE THE SOUND OF IVC. HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE?
E-mail one of our listed contacts. You will receive, with no obligation, details of current events. Feel free to ask any questions in your e-mail; contacts are happy to help. As a prospective member, you are free to attend any event(s) of your choice for up to 3 months. Of course, we hope that you'll join long before then!
I'D NOW LIKE TO JOIN HAVING ATTENDED EVENTS BUT CAN'T FIND A JOINING FORM. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
At some point during prospective membership you should receive an online joining form ready to print out. If you can't find this, just e-mail your contact and (s)he will be pleased to re-send. We also offer a phone contact - 01382 221938.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN?
The single membership fee is £20 per year.
THERE'S LOTS GOING ON BUT I CAN'T COMMIT MYSELF TO EVERYTHING! SHOULD I BE ABLE TO GO TO MOST EVENTS?
Not at all! Programmes are not attendance sheets. Members all have other commitments, such as work and family. Come along to events which appeal to you when your time allows.
HOW ARE PROGRAMMES COMPILED?
At each AGM, 12 members volunteer to coordinate a programme. Each will gather in events from others, for "their" month, before the date given on the programme concerned. They will also submit some events of their own - but they're not expected to organise everything else in that programme. IVC is run by members for members and everyone is invited to contribute when their time allows.
WHAT SORT OF PEOPLE COME ALONG? I'M NOT SURE I HAVE THE RIGHT QUALIFICATIONS. ALSO, I'M MARRIED.
We are not serious boffin types! Members have a wide range of backgrounds and jobs, including careers in agriculture, personnel, journalism, health and IT. The idea behind IVC is to continue a university / college-style social life when you're slightly older and busy in the working world. We are not specifically for singles. Marital status is irrelevant.
I'M A BIT NERVOUS ABOUT ATTENDING MY FIRST EVENT.
No worries there! Explain to the event coordinator that you are new, and you will be met beforehand. We are a smaller club, so never fear you will be lost in a big crowd.
