Comments:

"Very impressed with the Manchester venue - good for group discussion and formal sessions, and also the evening event"

"Universities would be good  - maybe Easter vacation outside of school hols (approx a 2 week window gives a weekend) or July before schools break up."

"Cheap economic option  - e.g. Travelodge / Premier Inn perhaps with conference area in a local pub? / other hotel if not available in budget hotel.  Must be central so allows easy access."

"Avoid Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow, Harrogate as the International Conference Centres are promoted"

"Universities in the UK have excellent and cheaper accommodation facilities and conference centres that IVC can take advantage of"

"Center Parcs as above, University accommodation usually cheaper, hotels could get a deal & as with conf centres."

"Cambridge may be cheaper than holding the Conference every year at Easter will make accommodation too expensive"

"YHA - take over a hostel for the weekend.  Basic inexpensive venues with facilities for the social side would, hopefully reduce costs"

"More comfortable "

"University/College (better value) or holiday camps"

"Venue should be a location where there are interesting things to do.  Dockland developments are all the same"

"Anything suitable"

Comments on Conference cost:

"No strong feelings but some clubs have been reducing their membership fees, as a result the AIVC costs and resultant levy becomes a more sig. %.  Overall I think the current setup is good value.  Budget accommodation appears to be a key area (uni/student, out of season)"

"Conference needs to continue but costs should be minimised by avoiding use of expensive hotels"

"I am very unused to staying in hotels! So maybe out of touch re current costs"

"Easter / Summer but not in school holidays - Fine"

"Organise early so can get saving from early booking"

"I was very happy with the present format and price . I would still rather have the hotel setting rather than university accommodation. I like it being in April if not possibly Autumn."

"Avoid September as many International Conferences.  March and April also.  Up to the Committee"

"Sponsor 1 delegate, reduce for 2nd delegate, normal for club member"

"Have not attended Conference"

"My club can afford to send 2 members per annum to the Conference with travel costs being reimburred centrally. However as we have recently reduced our annual subscription we would appreciate cheaper accommodation costs."

"Clubs should not be subsidised for coming to conference.  Costs need to come down. I have been to 5 conferences and I struggle to think what has been achieved over those 5 years."

"Keep it simple but sufficient"
