York - Number of Officers

If you agree with the statement, please tick the box

Which national Officers do we really need and why (* = required by current AIVC Constitution)?

(Consider whether each national officer job could be done in another way that is cheaper and just as effective?)

Below in red are the number of votes for each of the AIVC Committee Roles taken from the 9 responses collected at the York Gathering plus general response comments:

  •  * Chairman                                [  10  ]
  •  * Secretary                                [  10  ]
  •  * Treasurer                                [  10  ]
  •  * News Officer                           [  ]

  •  National Events                         [  ]              (Merge with News Officer - one single publication?)
  • Clubs Liaison                             [  ]            (Make an ALO in each region or a Regional Officer responsible for this?)
  •  National Development                [  ]            (A regional responsibility or merge with Publicity ?)
  •  National Publicity                       [  ]            (A regional responsibility or merge with Development ?)
  •  Webmaster                                [  ]             (Non- committee ... AIVC Officers should be able to make changes)

General Comments about changes to the AIVC Committee roles:

"Leading questions take you to leading answers"

"Need someone to develop IVC nationally.  Can't each club have their own ALO?"

"AIVC Officers can make changes"

"I have been the AIVC Secretary for the past 3 years and believe that the Committee needsall the roles that it currently has. The problem is that the ordinary members does not understand how important these roles are or even know what roles ther are on the AIVC Committee. Individual clubs can do their own publicity but national publicity can help publicise clubs as part of a national movement"

Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, News Officer

"More or less as at present but NO and Events could be combined"

"Continue separate"

"Keep as executive Officer at least 4.  Could be a different title for News Officer"

National Events:

"Should be an executive officer.  We are about events"

"Combine"  (Comment against National Events and Club Liaison)

Clubs Liaison:

"Keep.  Look for local / regional events that merit national publicity"

"Merge and rationalise so as not too big a workload. Reduce publicity element" (Comment against Club Liaison, Development and Publicity)

"Combine"  (Comment against National Events and Club Liaison)

"Combine"  (Comment against Development and Club Liaison)

"Could be combined with National Development"

"Too much work for 1 person"

"Merge and rationalise so as not too big a workload. Reduce publicity element" (Comment against Club Liaison, Development and Publicity)

"Merge roles"  (Comment against Development, Publicity and Webmaster)

National Publicity:

"Non Exec"

"Merge" (Comment against Development and Publicity)

"Merge and rationalise so as not too big a workload. Reduce publicity element" (Comment against Club Liaison, Development and Publicity)

"Merge roles"  (Comment against Development, Publicity and Webmaster)

"Not required, can be covered by web master"

Webmaster:

"Not needed in the long term."

"Maintain a quality web site that can be maintained across changes in post holder. Make it a Committee post."

"Merge roles"  (Comment against Development, Publicity and Webmaster)

"Should be Committee role"

Comments on opening up AIVC Meetings into Regional Gatherings:

"Yes, enthusiastic"

"Fully agree. Get more people involved"

"Conference should continue to be a weekend event with a social dimension"

"More accessible & purpose if a business day"

"Good idea"

"Good ideas. Very enjoyable"

"Yes - good idea"

"Very good. Found out lots of information"

"For AIVC Committee meetings it's a really good idea because AIVC Committee members only have to put 1 expense claim in.  It gives members a chance to visit different locations and meet up with new members of IVC Clubs"

Comments on opening up AIVC Meetings into Regional Weekends:

"Yes but needs to be an attractive place to go to create interest in going"

"Better"

"Yes as long as AIVC business on one day only.  York an excellent blue print"

"Conference should continue to be a weekend event with a social dimension, but regional meetings are a good idea and may encourage greater participation both by clubs and club members"

"On one day as part of a social weekend e.g. as at York!"

"Good idea, but keep business to one day"

"Good ideas. Very enjoyable"

"Yes - good idea - with option of day only attendence"

"Good"

"I've just been to the York Regional Weekend and there were great presentations from many IVC Clubs, which itself shows that it was a successful event. The 'host' club has to put in all the hard work otherwise it can be a strain for them in organising everything"
