Long Way Up - Cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats

From Saturday 7th August to Saturday 21st August (approx)

In September 2008 Tim Howe cycled with two friends from Lands End to John O'Groats.Birmingham IVC members Manu Randeria and Peter Howe acted as the support team. On completion Pete decided to get on his bike after 6 years. His desire to achieve has given him the idea to form an IVC team and go from the bottom to the top of the nation.

Birmingham IVC circulated a questionnaire asking members about their interests and cycling was found to be of great interest. Now is the chance to set yourself a really good objective with loads of help too.

Any members wishing to take part should note that this not just for the expert experienced cyclist. If you can ride a bike then there is no reason why you cannot take part.

In September 2008 Peter Howe at 58, had not cycled for over 6 years - and that was only to the pub and back! He smoked and weighed nearly 17 stone (108 Kg) which is a lot for someone 5ft 7½ ins. Within 4 months of cycling, he cycled 100 miles in one day, lost 2½ stone (5.5kg). He saved a considerable amount of money from not smoking and bought a really nice new bike!

The Main Objectives

To bring clubs together, whilst improving the profile of IVC, raise money for charity and achieve individual personal satisfactions.

Cyclists and visitors from all clubs will be able join in the tour, enroute. Clubs will be notified of the times and places to meet the team.
