Inter-group Virtual Clubhouse

The new Inter-group Virtual Clubhouse allows members of clubs throughout the UK to DIRECTLY meet and connect with members from other clubs in the AIVC network of groups.

This is the beginning of the introduction of a range of Club Connexion information and news pages and officer contact lists. Updates to the site software will provide clubs with a shared inter-club events and integration into various social media tools like Meetup.com as part of the AIVC web site.

Each Club Connexion will also contain comprehensive club details with a club email address such as "clubname@gmail.com" which forwards to the club organisers who deal with external enquiries and their web address.

New Association Inter-group Virtual Clubhouse - Open 24/7

A virtual space where people can meet and talk ...

We are experimenting in aIVC with some of the new generation of tools that enriches online meeting and socialising. The first one we are trying out is Wonder Me. The user feedback seen so far included being amazed by the different way it made the user feel and the freedom experienced as compared to the normal webconferencing tools like Zoom.

It was described  as feeling like they could "walk around" online and by getting close to someone else could talk to him or her. A completely different online experience than a Zoom breakout room where you are 'put' in the breakout by the facilitator and hardly dare to leave. If it is to be compared to a face-to-face experience it was described as resembling the online version of a reception or gathering.

The main Inter-group Virtual Clubhouse room is open 24/7 ... even when none of the aIVC room hosts are present. This means all club members can come in at any time of the day or night and find out who is around to chat with.

UK REGIONAL AREAS
As the system only allows up to 15 areas to be marked out in a room, we have created a set of regional rather than club areas in the main Clubhouse room. The region areas are like markings on the floor of a function room. The markings allow guests to identify where discussion circles for a particular club are likely to be found.

The regional areas that have been created in the room are:

aIVC Committee
South East
South West
London
East of England
Midlands
North East
North West
Scotland
Wales

Members and well behaved guests can come in to the Clubhouse whenever they feel like a chat with IVC members from throughout the UK. Membership of IVC groups is open to anyone keen to try new things, socialise and make friends. We are not a dating or singles group. However most of our members are single and we have quite a few couples as well.

CLUB OPEN NIGHTS
Your club can also add an event into the aIVC Calendar to let everyone else know when members of your group will be hosting an "Open Night" in your regional space. You can use this time for inviting prospective members to find out more about your group, just like you would do at a club night. Also while we are all in lockdown, it will give you the chance to "prop up the virtual bar" at any time for socialising with members of other IVC groups.

PRIVACY SETTINGS
By default, anyone with a link can enter the Clubhouse. This means you can pass on the Clubhouse web address to any prospective non-members when your club arranges a Club Open Night. This will allow you to meet your prospects online and to promote your club as part of the larger group network.

NOTE ON BEHAVIOUR IN THE AIVC CLUBHOUSE:
If there is anyone that goes around generally upsetting others or being disruptive, then please do let us know ASAP so the room host can ban them from entering the Clubhouse room for a suitable period of time.

COST OF WONDER.ME
Wonder.me
is currently free for anyone to use and registered hosts can create as many meeting rooms as they may need. The main Inter-group Virtual Clubhouse room can handle up to 1500 guests at one time with a maximum of 15 people per chat circle

At some point, Wonder are going to introduce usage-based pricing. They will notify us well ahead of this and ask for our consent first. All events that have been set up before the introduction of the pricing will be exempt
. We do not know how much the usage pricing will be at present, but we will aim to make the Inter-group Virtual Clubhouse a permanent feature of aIVC if it proves to be popular.
